The National Council for Behavioral Health Wants You to Get out the Vote 2020!

The right to vote lies at the heart of our nation’s founding principles, it is the bedrock of our democracy. When we vote, we ensure that every voice is heard and every American has a say in our future as a nation – including those living with behavioral health conditions.

The 2020 Election is critical, and you have the unique opportunity to help ensure that the needs of Americans with behavioral health challenges aren’t left behind by engaging your clients virtually in nonpartisan voter registration and education.

This Independence Day, be an impetus for change in our behavioral health care system – by offering voter registration and educational opportunities to your clients.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, voting and voter registration are undergoing unprecedented changes. Our Get-Out-the-Vote 2020 Toolkit will help your organization respond to the challenges and opportunities of new technologies to create, launch and sustain a successful voter registration and voter education program. You can access the toolkit here.

What else is included? Toolkit contents include:

  • A step-by-step guide to registering voters.

  • COVID-19 updates.

  • State-by-state guidelines for absentee or mail-in voting.

  • Sample scripts to engage your clients.

  • Questions to ask candidates about their position on health care.

  • How to keep abreast of the issues before you vote.
